Journalist and critic Monica Larner visited Il Borro to taste its wines, including the historic vintages of Il Borro, estate’s flagship wine.
The vertical tasting confirmed the quality and attraction of Il Borro IGT Toscana (50% Merlot, 35% Cabernet, 10% Syrah, 5% Petit Verdot), and resulted in the 2013 vintage being rated 95/100.
Il Borro is ideal to pair with meat-based Tuscan specialities, crostini, sharp cheeses and game meats. It also goes well with hamburgers (particularly from Angus beef) and various Asian foods.
Monica Larner describes Il Borro 2013 as a wine with great personality, with hints of tobacco, and nuances of rum cake and cherry liqueur.
