Il Borro vineyards extend in the Valdarno hills, at the foot of the Pratomagno mountain, in an area which boasts unique soil and climate conditions. The territory reflects both a long-standing history and an ancient vocation in the making of great wines. In 1716, the Grand Duke of Tuscany, Cosimo III, issued an edict which designated this area for the production of high quality wines. In 2011, the Valdarno di Sopra DOC was re-established and now includes local cellars committed to organic winemaking for future generations.

Respect for the territory is at the center of the Estate’s philosophy achieved with the use of renewable energy sources and which make us an Estate with zero carbon dioxide emissions. The vineyards are cultivated according to the principles of organic agriculture together with biodynamic procedures to increase production sustainability. At the basis of our organic-sustainable philosophy is the intention to create a closed productive cycle and to favor biodiversity through the creation of complex eco systems.

The value of time
Managing an organic activity entails a special way of living, of observing and respecting the land. The end goal is to help the land regenerate itself while maintaining fertility and re-establishing the proper balance between human impact and nature. Moving from conventional winemaking to the organic method requires three years during which time the vineyard regains its ecosystem. Respect for the environment also implies understanding and respecting the times that nature dictates.
