Our terroir, the unique climate and a strong territorial connotation

Il Borro vineyards at the foot of Pratomagno enjoy a privileged position for vine cultivation: mild winters, proper humidity and an excellent exposure tie in well with a geological terrain “marked” by the waters of great lakes that in the Pliocene era covered the entire surrounding valley. The parent rock is sandstone or strong stone that forms the foundation of the soil which has a rich mix of skeletal soil and sandy-clay: this is the ideal soil for the needs of the vines.

The vineyards

An analysis and detailed research has influenced each choice made: from the variety to the clones to the rootstocks. Nothing was left to chance. 85 hectares are involved, located between 300 and 500 meters above sea level and divided into the different cultivated varieties so that each one can express to the utmost its qualities.

Val d’Arno di Sopra DOC

The Val d’Arno DOC was recognized in 2011 thus certifying it as a territory of great value which, right from Renaissance times, was considered ideal for the production of great vines. The DOC thus stands to represent a sort of continuation of the winemaking tradition of the Tuscan Grand Duchy.

The designation of origin “Val d’Arno di Sopra” or “Valdarno di Sopra” is attributed to wines which meet the conditions and requirements of the wine regulations for the following wine types: White and quality sparkling wine, Red wine, Rosès including quality sparkling wine, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Sangioves, Syrah, Sauvignon and Passito sweet wine.
